Important for All Tours: Avoid Cotton Closest to Skin
For optimal warmth and comfort during our tours, it’s crucial that the layer closest to your skin is not cotton. Cotton retains moisture and will lead to cooling, which can be uncomfortable and potentially hazardous in Arctic conditions.

Northern Lights Big Bus Chase from Tromso
Join our Northern Lights Big Bus Chase from Tromso as we search for the clearest skies across Norway, Finland, or Sweden, maximizing your chances of witnessing the auroras.
How to Dress
Base Layer: Wear very thick wool base layers from top to toe, directly against your skin, to retain warmth. Avoid cotton or “thermals” as these absorb moisture and can make you colder. Wool is ideal for staying warm even when damp from body heat.
Mid-Layer: Add a substantial wool sweater, down jacket, or fleece for extra insulation. This layer traps heat and keeps you comfortable in low temperatures.
Outer Layer: Finish with a thick, windproof winter jacket and pants. These should be well-insulated to protect against wind and snow.
Accessories: Wear two pairs of thick wool socks for extra insulation. Complete your outfit with a warm hat, scarf, and mittens. A face mask is recommended on particularly cold nights for added protection.
Footwear: Thick and tall winter boots are essential, so you can walk in snow without it getting inside your shoes. Regular shoes won’t offer enough protection against the Arctic cold.

Whale Watching Tour
Encounter the Ocean’s Majestic Creatures
Wool, not down: Wear two very thick wool layers closest to the skin. Wool layers are preferred as down loses its insulating properties when wet. Also bring a warm scarf, and a warm hat.
Essential Gear: We provide boots rated for -50°C, a warm flotation suit, life vest, and ski goggles.
Your clothes may be wet after the tour, so bringing extra warm wool to wear on the way back to Tromsø is advisable.
